Maintaning a small business website

There are lots of web browsers out there and lots of versions of those browsers. Here are the browsers I test my designs in and provide support for:

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer - versions 8 and 9 (current version)
(Windows only - no Mac version currently exists)
  • Mozilla Firefox - version 4 and later (Windows and Macintosh)
  • Apple Safari - version 4.0 and later (Windows and Macintosh)
  • Google Chrome - version 11.0 and later (Windows and Macintosh)
  • Opera - version 11.0 and later (Windows, Macintosh and Linux)

This covers all major browsers released in the last 3 years. Your website will work in almost any browser and will work in browsers other than the ones above and in earlier versions as well. However I do not test or support these other browsers because they are rare or outdated.

Unsupported Browsers

Netscape Communicator and the AOL Browser are both obsolete discontinued browsers which are rarely used at this time. I do not support these browsers. AOL (which also owns Netscape) recommends individuals use Internet Explorer. The more recent AOL Explorer is still currently offered by AOL, however it is a rarely used browser with limited functionality, low support, and an uncertain future. AOL has attempted other browsers none of them very successfully.

Internet Explorer 6

Internet Explorer version 6.0 was released in January 2001 and retired by Microsoft in October 2006. This old version of Internet Explorer is considered one of the worst and most insecure browsers ever released. Microsoft strongly urges its customers to update to a later version of their browser. If you visitors view your site in Internet Explorer 6 it will appear fine, but it will not be perfect. There will be minor differences in color and spacing along with a few other minor issues that you may not even notice. Many major websites such as Gmail, Apple, Facebook, Google and Youtube and others have also publicly stopped supporting IE 6.

HOWEVER (you saw that coming)

Since Internet Explorer 6 is almost ten years old and was dropped by Microsoft over four years ago, I do not under any circumstances support fixing any Internet Explorer 6 issues or bugs.

Your website will appear perfectly in Internet Explorer versions 7.0 and later

Client Testimonies

"After a bad experience with another design firm company, we were nervous about picking a company to do the redesign of our website. Timothy explained the process we would go through on our redesign from finish to end, took all of our concerns into consideration and created a road map to accomplish the project with the budget we decided on and the timeframe we wanted."

"Timothy Web Design took the time to listen to what we needed in a website and the image we were trying to present to our customers. The end product was exactly what we were hoping for and more."
